| Social Security IS welfare...it heavily taxes the working class in an effort to redistribute that wealth to those that can't work and haven't bothered to save money for themselves, but not before passing through the government filter of inefficiency.I make an average salary (about $45-50k)...I'm currently paying about $3000 a year into SS. What if, instead of paying the government that money, I was able to invest that $3000 per year instead? If I had started at age 20 and invested that $3000 per year until age 65 at a rate of 8% (that's a conservative estimate), I would have a nest egg of $1.25 million. That means, at 8% interest, I would be retiring comfortably on $100,000 annually in interest from my nest egg. That's not even taking into account the fact that my salary will increase over time, and thus so will my taxes/investment potential.Compare that to the average monthly SS payment for a retiree today of $1150 ($13,800 annually)...mind telling me how exactly Social Insecurity is such a great thing? |

Actually.. If it's mandating stuff like the distributors shouldn't encode junk on the CD to stop it the audio from easily being ripped, there's nothing to stop me (as a British Citizen, living in the UK) buying CDs from Germany.From the sound of it though, the court just threw out the record industry's case rather than making any judgement. They just read the existing legislation, worked out what applied, and stated that the (sensible) legislation applies.The fact is that many people who buy CDs these days don't actually listen to them on a CD player, instead they rip, transcode them and listen to them on a personal music player, or music player built into a phone, or on their computer, or on the USB reading music player built into their refrigerator, and the German copyright law allows for that.Personally, I far prefer to buy back-catalogue stuff on CD from second hand music shops than downloading from Amazon, or whoever because it's far more fun, it's more hit-or-miss, and much more exciting when you find that rare extended version of something that never made the charts from 1984, but is really good..

I know the typical stereotype of hockey players is hard ass and cocky and I am sure the player who caused the injury kept on playing. However, if I caused that injury(even though it was an accident) I am not sure I would be able to jump right back into the game.?
