Rohm was right, the truth is many revolutionaries are usually bitter and lost people who can't find their place or function in a mainstream society so they look to a group or an extremist ideology to cling to. At the time in Weimar Germany communism flourished but once it became apparent the Nazis were winning the battles in the streets alot of reds switched sides, it wasn't so much about what the ideology was about but who was going to be the first to tear down the system and replace it with something new. Also the reason Nazism succeeded is it took bits and pieces from every ideology that could appeal to everyone the socialists loved the public works projects and generous benefits and social programs the state pushed, capitalists loved the arms manufacturing projects, and the intellectuals liked the new age paganism core of the party adopted from the Thule society. Also the racial theories compounded world history into the most basic of instinctive biology, to survive or die off, it was something new compared to the stale arguments of Marxism where everything was compounded as class struggle which was far harder to prove as a theory than human Darwinism.
Thanks for pointing both of those out. I was busy checking at the D&D online ad.

"Do you throw your dead grandmother around for a joke at her funeral?"If rabbits needed 8 pallbearers, I'm sure nobody would throw them around either.

The winner's design had to be one of the worst. It looks like it was designed by a five year old.

I think the main weak point here is the transition of control during both the joining and de-coupling process. Your driver has to take control at high speed, continue the drift, and then successfully merge into slower traffic. You also have ***** drivers, imagine someone drunk or distracted plowing into a train, yeouch. To implement this (at least in the US), you would need to not only dedicate lanes, but also re-train drivers and make learning to drive a much longer and much more involved process. With all this in mind, I think it would be more beneficial and a better return to invest in dedicated high-speed rail. You can take a far larger amount of passengers at a far high rate of speed for much longer on much less cost to the environment. |
